Writing a post after a long long time so thought - why not start with giving you a peek into old Bangalore. Red and white are the colours that greet you as soon as you enter the joint. That along with the old country music, tiled roof and a blackboard with the day's specials makes a perfect picnic outing for your family or friends.
Located at the corner of Museum Road (a perfect location really where you avoid the usual hustle n bustle of MG and Brigade Road), the restaurant lives up to its name when it comes to Steaks and Pastas. But we'll go one step at a time.
Coming to the appetizers, while the veg gang ordered some Cheese Rolls along with French Fries dipped in cheese (yeah you shouldn't exactly be a health freak if you want to eat at The Only Place). The real foodies (read non-vegetarians and 'eat-alls') ordered Chicken Wings, Kebabs and a beef item. The appetizers, you might have noticed, are simple and commonplace so I would recommend you save your stomachs for the main course, which is where the magic lies.
I need not remind you that Steaks are the specialty since half the menu comprises only of the largest variety of beef, chicken and fish steaks you might have ever seen in India. Then come the relatively small collection of Pastas, Sandwiches, Burgers and a few continental dishes served with fries or rice. I would have to say vegetarians are at a slight disadvantage here but they still have a good choice of Pastas. I ordered a Chicken Lasagna and I have nothing else to say except that Garfield would have been proud. The quantity might look small people, but despite my being a hog and the dish being shared with a number of people, it could not be finished. So that's something to keep in mind when you're ordering.
We also ordered a couple of steaks, both veg and non-veg, the latter being tastier of course. I'm guessing the Beef steaks are more popular but I'm afraid I can't comment much on that.
Overall, a good experience - a chilled out atmosphere, pleasant music and great Lasagna. I wouldn't say the Steaks were awesome, but I have not come across many joints that are even comparable; and, ofcourse, beef eaters are said to have a good set of options for some juicy Steaks.
A meal for 2 would cost you Rs. 300-400. The restaurant doesn't serve drinks but has a decent set of coolers to offer - the Ice Tea is really good. The dessert menu is nothing to write home about so it's basically the main course you need to concentrate on. At the end of the day - it's all about a fun evening with friends and family!
